PostGIS is a spatial extension for PostgreSQL. PostGIS can be used to manage large spatial datasets and perform different processes and analyses efficiently. The course introduces what a PostGIS database is and why and what it is used for. During the course, the participant will learn the key processes related to using PostGIS: installing, uploading, maintenance, processing and analysing of spatial data, as well as backuping and restoring of the database.

After the course, the participant will be able to create relationships between tables, analyze and process database data with SQL queries, and efficiently maintain large spatial datasets. The PostGIS database works seamlessly with QGIS, and a connection can be established from QGIS to the PostGIS database.

Participants should have a basic uknowledge of spatial data and spatial software. Experience in server software and SQL is helpful. The course is particularly suitable for those who have large geospatial datasets to manage and want to improve the maintenance of these geospatial datasets.

This course will be organised 17.–18.3.2026 and 24.–25.3.2026
The price includes Gispo Support Service for 2 months
